It was a friendship that forged their relationship. iI was passion that ultimately defined it and bound them together. And tragedy that tore them apart. time and distance could not destroy their yearning. a failed marriage could not quench the memories. Nothing could make either forget what they had once shared. Reunited once more, will love find a way?

Excerpt

Ian wanted to say more, but he had no words. Nothing to offer. What did he want Cooper to say anyway? He was right, it was a long time ago. But yesterday wasn't. And that torrid confrontation near the lighthouse told him it wasn't over. There was still something between them.

Standing up, he walked up the incline to enter the cave. He turned to look down at the beach--to Shep and Gayle splashing in the water. To the silent, solitary figure of Cooper standing just below him. Suddenly, Cooper turned and stared up to where Ian was standing. Their eyes locked and memories flooded Ian's mind.

He wanted to go down there and grab the damn man and kiss him as thoroughly as Cooper had kissed him yesterday. Possessively. Deeply. His cock surged against his shorts at the memory of those moments when they'd first confronted each other yesterday after so long an absence. Explosive and demanding.

He turned away and stepped farther into the cave. He saw the remnants of a burned out fire. His eyes went to the spot where he had lain with Cooper. Near the fire, flesh to flesh, Cooper's body heat warming him, trying to fight off the shivering cold of the sea.

The simple need for human warmth had turned into something quite different--something deeper as desire had surged through him.

Without warning hard hands dropped onto his shoulders, spinning him around. Firm lips descended over his possessively, as a tongue thrust deep inside. Ian's arms came up around Cooper's strong shoulders, embracing him, and pulling him close.

They meshed together as though they had never been apart. The smell of the sea clung to Cooper, a part of him, and Ian tasted the salt on his skin. Licked at his jaw like a man ravenous to feast after a long fast.

Mouths again fastened together. Cooper's hands cupped Ian's jaw, locking Ian in place as Cooper explored his mouth, consuming him, kissing him breathless. As suddenly as he'd been taken, he was once again alone. Cooper moved to the other side of the cave, a dreaded distance separating them once more.

"You shouldn't have come up here," Cooper said.

"You didn't have to come after me."

The look that entered Cooper's eyes took Ian's breath away. He didn't think he'd ever seen so much pain expressed so vividly.

He took a step forward. "Cooper, I--"

Cooper spun away and lunged toward the entrance of the cave.

"We should be heading back to the mainland. I have things to do. You and I--"

"We need to talk about what's happening, Cooper. What we're going to do about it."

Cooper held up a hand as if to ward Ian off. "No. You just stay away from the lighthouse and everything will be fine. You won't be in the Cove much longer. You'll go back to your life and I'll go on with mine. Just as before." Then he was gone. Sliding down the incline and striding across the beach toward the boat. He never looked back.

Ian followed at a slower pace. There was something tangible between them, and he couldn't just let it go.

Not this time.
